Emulsifiers allow water to combine with oil and are the building blocks of cosmetic toiletries

Water and Oil do not naturally mix, an emulsifier allows water to combine with an oil, for example Olive or Sweet Almond to become a homogenous mixture and thus is the basic chemistry at the core of creating Cosmetics.

Creams, lotions and shower gels depend on emulsification

Products such as lotions and cleansers which require an oil to bond with water and even shower gels and shampoos require an emulsifier to ensue that oils successfully combine.

We use emulsifiers which are regarded as safe by the cosmetics toiletries industry.

O/W or W/O Emulsifiers?

W/O (Water in Oil) Emulsifiers are used when you want a small amount of water in oil, this leads to a fatty feel from the product and is normally used for sun protection creams and night creams.

O/W (Oil in Water) Emulsifiers are used when a more moisturising feel is required from a product, for example a lotion or moisture Cream. Oil in Water products are predominantly water with oil combined.
