Our philosophy has been to challenge the normal and we have brought previously exclusively high end products to the market affordably from Sea Buckthorn to the PET plastic bottles which we offer, we never accept low quality and have worked to innovate in an industry which is traditionally very old fashioned.

Locally we proudly produce Carshalton Lavender. Carshalton used to be the home of Lavender in England, Yardley and Potter & Moore being born out of the Lavender from the fields here. The combination of chalk soils and perfect climate and drainage make for a very special place for Lavender to grow, with herbaceous low notes and sweet top notes. We have been actively involved with the community group and the money and publicity generated from the products allows for the expansion and growth of the field which sees thousands of visitors visit from all over the country. This year the addition of an on-site still means we are able to distill the oil onsite for higher quality and yield. Uniquely amongst British Aromatherapy retailers we have become involved in the growing of Essential Oils, not just retailing.

The quality of our essential oils is of the up most importance. We pride ourselves in offering 100% Pure Essential Oils, Base Oils and Hydrolats (Flower Water). There are never any added ingredients. If we say it is pure then it is 100% Pure. We source our ingredients from around the world and work hard with all our suppliers to ensure only the finest oils are used.

How can we offer our essential oils at such low prices

Many other brands and high street retailers place huge profits on aromatherapy products. They keep aromatherapy as a niche market in order to preserve their profits. We at Naturallythinking believe in the virtues of aromatherapy and have the aim of making aromatherapy affordable. We deal direct with the producers (often paying over the market price of bulk wholesalers), but by cutting out the middleman we can pass the savings on to you as well as building up relationships which help to ensure quality and sustainability.

How Fresh are Naturallythinking Products?

Because we offer aromatherapy products at great prices we have a high turnover of oils. Due to this you can be assured our oils are always "fresh" unlike the oils you may find on the shelves in shops. We always examine our stocks to check for any discrepancies in quality and consistency. Our entire bottling process is done by hand; we use no machines to bottle the oils, this allows us to continually monitor the products and gives you the quality only hand bottling can ensure.

Essential Oils: No essential oil batch is ever more than 3 months old. We check throughout the life of the oil that there is no degradation in quality. Oils are stored in an air conditioned, temperature controlled dark room, in dark containers to ensure their stability and quality.

Carrier / Base Oils: All base oils are stored in a temperature controlled room away from sunlight. Our high turnover of oils ensures no oil is ever over a month old. Oils especially vulnerable to temperature and age are kept in lower quantities to ensure freshness.

Hydrolats / Flower Water: Our Flower Waters have NO added ingredients, they are the pure Flower Waters. This makes them have exceptional therapeutic and beauty properties however more vulnerable to bacteria. To ensure against this we maintain a high turnover of flower water and pass those flower waters prone to bacteria build up through UV filters which kills bacteria without altering the composition. This ensure the maximum life of the flower waters when you receive them, whilst having no preservatives which can have detrimental effects on their therapeutic and beauty properties.

Many aromatherapy products come from deprived and developing regions of the world. We take our social responsibility to these regions very seriously. We only use suppliers who treat their workforce fairly and in humane conditions. When purchasing from areas where there is political instability we ensure we are only purchasing oils from companies who are not using the profits of the sales of such oils to further political aims through violence. Products such as Sandalwood are only purchased from suppliers which have the government's seal of approval, from suppliers who are respecting the environment and not “poaching trees” (a common problem in India).

We ensure the oils which we purchase are coming from producers which have respect for the environment and we do not stock those oils which are derived from endangered species. We look for responsible use of the land, areas in Indonesia have been over extensively cultivated to produce oils such as Patchouli, which has had not only detrimental effects on the environment but catastrophic effects on the local population, causing floods and the loss of life. We ensure we are buying from suppliers who are managing their land and their production in a way the land can support.

We recycle as much of the packaging materials and items used in the production of the oils as much as possible, and encourage you to ensure you recycle your small bottles at your local recycling center. The bottle banks available for dark glass wine bottles are suitable for our essential oil bottles. For those who buy directly from our shop we will recycle your used bottles for you.

All of our plastic bottles are biodegradable and will dissolve in a landfill site. For those of you with plastic recycling facilities, they are suitable for placing in your recycling bin.
