Summer Newsletter
It has been a wonderful first half of the year for us at Naturallythinking with a lot of new products and improvements on formulas of some our existing range. We have welcomed a lot of new customers who we hope have been impressed with our speed of service and quality of products. In this newsletter we would like to keep you abreast of what we have been up to at Naturallythinking and some ideas for the future
Improved SLS Free Formulas
One area we wanted to really improve has been our Shower Gel and Shampoo bases in SLS Free format. After completely eliminating parabens from all of our products last year, this year we felt we needed to make our SLS free products beyond anything anybody else is making in the market place. We have introduced a new SLS Free Shower Gel base and a new SLS Free Shampoo base. All of our existing blended SLS Free Shower Gels and Shampoos have been modified with this new formula. The new formula uses a sophisticated blend of Aloe Vera which is oxygenated, creating an air suspended formula which is quite unique. If you look closely at the product shots on the pages you will see the air bubbles in the formula which is part of the oxygenation process. The result is a base which cleans stunningly and allows you to blend with essential oils effectively at very high doses compared to our previous products. Further more you can also blend carrier oils into these new bases, making some wonderfully silky blends. Our favourite is to blend Jojoba at approximately 5%, which makes a rich nourishing shower gel or cold pressed Avocado at around 3% making a beautiful shampoo. Another feature of the formula is the ability to suspend other ingredients. Examples would be adding Ground Almonds or Olive Shells to make exfoliating shower gels or Seaweed to make an antioxidant exfoliating scrub. The new possibilities with our Shower Gel are limitless and made with wonderful ingredients, they really shouldn't be missed out on!
New Products
We have added several new products to our range. There are new hand creams and by popular demand we have brought back the Lavender & Peppermint Foot Cream which has been missing from our website for a year. Our Double Whipped Body Butters have been our biggest selling product. We wanted to do something a little different and obviously more natural than the others... so we came up with the idea of Double Whipping. It allows us to combine both Shea Butter and Cocoa Butters together without being heavy on the skin. Butters can often be heavy on the skin and clog this skin a little, so we wanted to create a lighter formula which would provide the same nourishment, but let the skin breathe. From the feedback we have had, we have succeeded. Circulation Boosting Grapefruit & Tangerine continues to be the most popular, and our Organic Carshalton (grown on our own Lavender fields here in Carshalton) Double Whipped Body Butter is wonderfully soothing for the skin and an excellent pre-bedtime skin enricher. We have added some new bottles & jars to our range, the most notable of which are the 50ml PET Plastic clear jar which makes your products look fantastic and are of excellent quality. We have also added Aluminium Jars 50ml and 100ml which have also proved very popular. We are hoping to improve our range of coloured bottles shortly. We currently offer 100ml and 250ml in Blue, Green and Amber, however we are not keen on providing these bottles as they are made from PVC, however we are hoping to move these to completely PET Plastic by the Autumn.
Website & Technical
We have continued to work on the website and we hope you agree it is looking a little better. We made some technical upgrades at the beginning of the year which have sped the website up dramatically. We are constantly working on improving the navigation and the information available on the website. With concerns over credit card and sensitive data, we made the decision to completely move all payment processing to outside credit card processing companies in March, so now all payments are either made via WorldPay or PayPal. By doing this, it allows us to offer you the highest level of security with your card data by ensuring we do not hold any of your card data. Our wholesale website continues to be upgraded, but does lag behind the retail website in terms of development. We are hoping the wholesale website will be completely revamped by October.
Pricing
We have done our best to hold the pricing on all of our core products; essential oils, carrier oils, floral waters, bases, bottles and jars over the past 12 months. Our increased popularity has enabled us to hold these prices by increasing the bulk we order despite rising prices due to fuel and for us mainly the Euro. Many essential and carrier oils come from within Europe and the changing exchange rate has effected these prices quite dramatically, for example it has put up the price of Sweet Almond and Grapeseed by nearly 30%. We took the decision however to buy in larger bulk and this has enabled us to maintain our prices without any price increase.
Staff
Darren who many of you will know from phone calls and emails left us in June. Darren joined us straight from school and has been with us for the past 2 years. We wish him the best of luck with his new job and will miss him. We are currently looking for a new Darren and hopefully in the Autumn we will have a new member of Staff onboard to help with packing and day to day running.
